THE NEW ALBUM ‘HALO EFFECT’
UK TOP #5 ALBUM / #1 UK INDEPENDENT ALBUM CHART / #1 UK ROCK & METAL ALBUM / #1 UK DOWNLOAD CHART
SHORT BIO (2024)
One of modern hard rock's most exciting breakouts in recent years, Kris Barras Band are bringing all-new arena-sized grit to 2024 with their new album 'Halo Effect'. The album reached UK top 5 spot alongside Beyonce and Linkin Park whilst topping the official UK Rock/Metal, Independent AND Download charts! Amplifying the heavier sound from their previous album 'Death Valley Paradise' (which alone had ALL 4 singles A-listed at Planet Rock radio), 'Halo Effect' delivers hard-hitting riffs, captivating choruses that soar and fuse-lighting technical solos.
Newly signed to legendary independent label Earache Records, Kris Barras Band harness the twilight-lit melodies and stampeding force beloved by fans of Architects, Shinedown and Alter Bridge. 'Halo Effect', which was recorded at Vada Recording Studios in Worcestershire and co-produced by frontman Barras and long-term collaborator Josiah J. Manning, also features co-writes with Zac Maloy and Blair Daly (Shinedown, Halestorm, Lynyrd Skynyrd). Barras is joined in Kris Barras Band by fellow native sons of Devon; Manning on guitar, Billy Hammett on drums and latest member Frazer Kerslake on bass.
After an almost-unbelievable career change from pro-MMA fighter of ten years to professional musician, Barras cut his teeth in the international blues rock scene culminating in a frontman spot with supergroup Supersonic Blues Machine (featuring ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons). In the meantime, Kris Barras Band gravitated to a heavier – yet melodic - sound that has sold-out tours with Black Stone Cherry, The Darkness and Thunder at the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena.
With a newer, harder edge befitting the Kerrang! bands that Kris grew up jamming to, Kris brings together many generations of rock fans that have helped him reach new heights from headlining his own outdoor show in the epic setting of Chepstow Castle to sold-out UK tours. With his sights on Europe and the USA, Kris is determined to show the world that the UK still rocks just as hard as the rest of ‘em.

HALO EFFECT (ALBUM, 2024)
One of modern hard rock's most exciting breakouts in recent years, Kris Barras Band are bringing all-new arena-sized grit to 2024 with their new album 'Halo Effect'. Amplifying the heavier sound from their previous album 'Death Valley Paradise' (which landed a Top 30 spot in the UK Album Chart and saw four tracks added to Planet Rock Radio's A-list playlist), THE NEW ALBUM 'Halo Effect' (#1 UK ROCK & METAL CHARTING ALBUM) delivers hard-hitting riffs, captivating choruses that soar and fuse-lighting technical solos.
Newly signed to legendary independent label Earache Records, Kris Barras Band harness the twilight-lit melodies and stampeding force beloved by fans of Architects, Shinedown and Alter Bridge.
“There is a strong rock & metal influence throughout the album and there’s also some progressive elements with some odd time riffs and experimental midsections. There are even some melodies and production ideas not dissimilar to what a lot of the modern metalcore bands are doing,” frontman Kris Barras says of 'Halo Effect'. “Musically, this album is a lot more riff- and groove-based. 'Halo Effect' still keeps the essence of what Kris Barras Band is: big riffs and even bigger choruses. It's just that, this time, we’ve turned everything up to 11 and beefed it up!”
'Halo Effect' was recorded at Vada Recording Studios in Worcestershire and co-produced by Barras with long-term collaborator Josiah J. Manning: “As we were writing the album, the production ideas were very much at the forefront,” Barras explains. “We were constantly thinking about the soundscape, tones, additional synth parts etc. Josiah mixed the album at his studio in Plympton, Momentum Studios and he absolutely nailed the modern sound that we were aiming for. It’s easily his best work to date.” The album also features co-writes with Zac Maloy and Blair Daly (Shinedown, Halestorm, Lynyrd Skynyrd), including the album's lead single “Unbreakable”. Barras is joined in Kris Barras Band by Manning on guitar, Billy Hammett on drums and latest member Frazer Kerslake on bass.
After an almost-unbelievable career change from pro-MMA fighter of ten years to professional musician, Barras cut his teeth in the international blues rock scene culminating in a frontman spot with supergroup Supersonic Blues Machine (featuring ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons). In the meantime, Kris Barras Band gravitated to a heavier sound that has sold-out tours with Black Stone Cherry, The Darkness and Thunder at the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena.
Having commenced the climb to his peak as a musician from 5 years of age under the guidance of his musician father Paul Barras, Barras has hit his latest summit with 'Halo Effect': “This is the album that I am the most proud of in my career. So much hard work has gone into 'Halo Effect': a lot of attention to detail and constant striving to make sure that I improve and deliver an album that is truly to the best of my ability as both a songwriter and musician.”
Kris Barras Band coincide the release of 'Halo Effect' with their upcoming UK headline tour in April 2024. All native sons of Devon, the band launch the tour with a special launch party at The Foundry in Barras' hometown of Torquay, then make their way around the country via Southampton, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham and finally London.
And Barras has his fans to thank for the conception of 'Halo Effect', which was written whilst riding the crest of the crowd response that the band experienced on their 2023 UK tour: “Josiah and I set up a recording studio in the top lounge of the tour bus,” says Barras. “We were super inspired by the audiences on that tour. We performed our heaviest set to date and noticed a real change in the crowd response. People were really vibing off of the heavier riffs and jam sections. The response at the shows massively fed the creativity for 'Halo Effect'.”
